OnCourse helps you stay aware of the traffic around you, plan your voyages, and share your position with your friends and loved ones through the MarineTraffic Live Map. Additionally, you can connect with the boating community and enjoy the exciting new Virtual Reality feature.

Enhance your sailing awareness with OnCourse:

Share your position on MarineTraffic.com and engage with the boaters' community:

• Report your position even if your boat lacks an AIS transponder, so that friends and family can follow you in near real-time
• Track a particular boat in a race or keep in touch with friends' boats while cruising
• Identify other vessels sailing in the area (provided they transmit their positions)
• Upload photos of your boat for the community to see

OnCourse has very low data and battery consumption. It supports all standard units of measurement.

Please note that OnCourse is not AIS. It simulates data transmitted by AIS transponders, but it only transmits data through the internet and not over AIS radio frequencies. The information transmitted by OnCourse is only visible on the MarineTraffic website and apps, and not by the AIS receivers of other vessels. OnCourse is a self-reporting tool that does not substitute AIS transmissions and is not related to the safety and navigation equipment of a vessel.

Intended Use:
Once the OnCourse application is launched on your mobile device and internet connectivity is available, the vessel's position will start being reported. Positions will continue to be reported even if the app is running in the background. However, it is important to use OnCourse only when the device is on board a vessel, and to turn off the app whenever the device leaves the vessel.

How to Use OnCourse - Registration Required:
You must register for a MarineTraffic account in order to start reporting your position through the application. Additionally, you must configure details of the vessel, such as its name, call-sign, dimensions, destination, ETA, etc., when using the app.

Email Notifications:
To avoid unintentional position reporting, MarineTraffic will send email notifications to your registered email address whenever your app is active. This serves as a reminder for you to activate position reporting only when you are at sea and to deactivate it when on land.
